Not unlike many other artistic endeavors, Death By Lions was formed during the pandemic by Wes Keely and Brian Geurin. While both had been playing in the punk rock outfit Old Fire, they wanted to incorporate their shared love of late 90's post hardcore. 

Their similar taste developed while playing in different bands at the time (Wes - Earthmover and Walls of Jericho & Brian in Subsist) and while having shared the same stages during the midwest hardcore movement in the late 90's early 2000's.

After gathering a handful of songs in 2021 they added Jamie Bradford (Chokehold) on bass, as well as falling into the talent of Nate Johnivan on vocals (Red Arrow Highway, Monkey Robot War), and Dustin Posthuma (Fine Fine Titans) on guitar.

Intertwining the heaviness of bands like Helmet and Quicksand while also leaning into acts like Texas is the Reason and Knapsack, Death By Lions dances with nostalgia while branding their own sound.

Death By Lions has unleashed 2 EPs on to the world, both recorded at Rancho Recordo with producer Marc Jacob Hudson (Against Me!, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday).
